Wondering…

How in the world my husband sleeps every night with objects such as tissue and guitar picks in his pajama pockets.

Halloween Hoochie Mama

pregtrashparty

Thanks to Heather Armstrong @ dooce.com I had a Halloween costume for the first time in years. I didn’t know 7/8 of the people at the party, so walking in was a little like the naked high school dream I used to always have. Jamie Case, fabulous rescue comrade and friend, thankfully greeted us at the door, me with cigarette in mouth and beer in hand, and yelled louder than she necessarily needed to, “Oh my god, you’re not showing. Where’s your belly?” Thank you for that Jamie, because, I was totally paranoid about whether people would REALLY know that I was pregnant. Obvious to me, maybe not so obvious to folks who don’t know me. Maybe 20 weeks was a little early for this costume, but I just could not resist.

Oh, and just to make the night more real, I came home and puked my guts out.

Lounging Ribbon

This is the last thing I made before I got so sick that I could not even think about making anything. Sewing kind of reminds me of when I was so sick with this pregnancy that getting off of the couch for the day was something to talk about. Thinking about sewing even made me nauseous. Sewing and food. I am feeling much better these days and may have to try my hand at some little girl’s clothes for Matilda. Everyone said that I would forget about how sick I was in those months. They said that once I felt better all I would think about is the anticipation of our new beautiful baby. Those people have never been as sick as I, either that or they are delusional and need to seek counseling. Morning sickness = population control.

I will never forget Matilda!

She’s got legs!

matildalegfull

As I was uploading this picture, I realized that they were not really just showing me a cute picture of my little lady’s lovely long legs, but a picture of her bladder, as stated in the upper left hand corner. If you can get past the fact that it is a bladder picture, just look at that beautiful leg! I don’t know why, but this picture makes me the weepiest of even the 3-D ones where she looks like a little lizard in a cocoon. No, really, she is adorable, I think. I mean I am sure that she is adorable, those pics are just so weird. Anyway, I love her leg so much. I love her so much. Can’t wait to meet her and so glad to be able to stop calling her “it” and start calling her Matilda.

Not from around here

notfromhere

It really was cold in Charleston, SC for a few of the days we were there. This particular day was kind of hot and I probably looked like a freak of nature, but what can one do. I didn’t bring a lot of options as far as footwear goes. Okay, that’s a lie, I brought four pairs of shoes, plus my slippers, but really my rain and snow galoshes were the most comfortable…and they looked the cutest. Looking cute is a necessity when one has grown a tire/beer belly not quite posing as pregnant yet.  Fashion is never easy, especially when one is pregnant.
